Charlottetown Bluefins

The Charlottetown Bluephins is a swim club for children from Charlottetown and surrounding areas. The Bluephins Aquatic Club was formed in 1962 as a YMCA swim team. When the YMCA closed, the Club became self-supporting, but still swam at the John Evans Pool at the Charlottetown Recreation Centre on Prince Street. Over the years, the Bluephins Club has produced many national-calibre swimmers, despite the fact that the pool was less than 25 metres in length. In June 2004, the Club moved to the new CARI Aquatics Facility at the University of Prince Edward Island, with an eight-lane, 25-metre competition pool and 25-metre leisure pool.

The Charlottetown Bluephins Swim Club’s objective is the development of speed swimmers both in athletic ability and personal enhancement. The Bluephins offer three levels of instruction and competition for 100 + swimmers.
